It is with deep regret that the unexpected death of
Rosemary Curran
passed away 18th November 2015 at the end of a Caribbean Cruise
with three friends in New Orleans USA
a beautiful gentle soul who will be sadly missed by all

Rosemary lived on her own in Mooroolbark and decided to join the CWA of Wandin approx. seven years ago.
A large tribute goes out for her position as "Branch Conservation Officer" for most of this time where she researched, examined & shared her stories to the full.
Rosemary would have turned 80 in February 2016 & was really looking forward to family & friends social aspects.
She lived on her own (outliving two husbands) and had no children of her own she had a very full life.  Loved and cared for by her two much younger brothers and their families, friends and members of the organisations she belonged to.
Her brothers (Robert and Peter Alexander) have donated $300 to the Wandin Branch in Rosemary's memory allocated to a suitable organisation in the Valley.

----------
This year Wandin have a number of projects running to help our local community.  These include:

Baby Bundles: donations of baby items to be given to a local maternal child health centre for distribution to parents in need. This is an ongoing project.

Trauma Dolls: we are making and distributing 'trauma dolls' to local emergency services - dolls and teddies that live in emergency vehicles in preparation for distribution to people caught up in emergency situations.

Royal Children's Hospital Auxiliary Baby Jacket Challenge: we are making baby jackets for the RCH Auxiliary to sell as part of their fundraising efforts.  This is a project we run as a yearly challenge within branch and provides much support to the RCH.

Local Primary School: several of our members are involved in teaching students at our nearest primary school how to knit.  We also provide other assistance as appropriate upon negotiation.

Look for us in Wandin just before Christmas - we will be holding a street stall, selling cakes and other baked goodies as well as gift items pre-Christmas.  Come along, say hello, buy a treat and help us support the local community!

Recent Activities:

The ladies (and a few of their gentlemen) from Wandin held a Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Bayswater on the 15th of February.  It was a warm day but there was a fairly steady flow of customers throughout the day.  Funds raised will enable us to support more local community groups.  Thank you to all who came to support us, either by buying a sausage or by cooking, serving, greeting customers or running for ice when needed.
